Play translation: Ιoannis Kondilakis – The gift of the janissary

The play with title “The gift of the janissary” is translated from Greek to Turkish by Lale Alatli and is being performed in old coffe shops and churchs’ courtyards in Crete.

Dimitris Kallivretakis was a Creten intelectual in Crete, under the Ottoman rule period. This is his story narrated by his grandson Kostas Kallivretakis.

Meeting the neighbour through the literature: Turkish literature in Greece and Cyprus

 The conference titled “Meeting the neighbour through literature: Turkish literature in Greece and Cyprus” was held in Komotini on the 18th and 19th of May 2018 .

Lale Alatlı participated with her speech “Between two…” in which she talked about translation of modern Turkish literature into Greek and the present situation of  the translated Turkish literature in Greece.

14th International Book Fair of Thessaloniki

The 14th International Book Fair of Thessaloniki took place between 11th and 14th of May 2017. The literature magazine, Eneken organised an event titled, “Turkey after the referendum. Are the freedom of press and the intellectuals on the firing line?” One of the debaters was Lale Alatlı with her speech about “the freedom in literature in Turkey”. Literature magazine Eneken, vol. 43 – Cyprus

The 43rd issue (January, February, March 2017) of ENEKEN Literature Magazine was released. It is a tribute to the contemporary literature of Cyprus through the work of award winning artists of the island. The tribute also includes Turkish Cypriot authors whose works are published also in Turkish. The editing was done by the poet Andreas Karakokkinos and by the translator Lale Alatli.
